Missed School Due to Tooth or Mouth Pain: 8th Grader

Select a County
Measurement Period: 2020
This indicator measures the percent of 8th-grade students who missed one or more hours of school because they went to the dentist for tooth or mouth pain.

Why is this important?

Students who are chronically absent (missing 10% or more of school days in an academic year) are more likely to drop out of high school than their peers. There are many health-related reasons why students miss school, including asthma, oral health problems, mental health challenges, substance abuse, pregnancy and obesity, homelessness and bullying.
