There is a strong correlation between stable and affordable housing to health. Not having enough money for housing doesn’t allow health and nutrition to be prioritized and can lead to long lasting issues for low-income populations. In Central Oregon, 7.4%-11.7% of families are living below the poverty line. In Deschutes County 58% of income on average is being spent on housing and transportation alone. With better housing situations better graduation rates and health will follow in students

The project attempted to:- Reduce emotional trauma of children living homeless and/or without parent.
- Increase medical prevention appointments for children.
- Improve child attendance rate at school.
Children stayed at the same school during their stay helping to adapt and succeed more academically.
90% of transitional housing children had an appointment with a primary care doctor within 3 months of arrival.
The emotional trauma scores of the children improved when living in transitional housing care.
There were positive reports from teachers and parents on attendance and academic success while in transitional care.
