“One student shared that his family had a kettle bell at their home, but he had never seen it used and didn’t understand what to do with it. He told me that after being taught how to use our new kettlebells in PE that he was going to use the one at his house. Since then, he has shared about different workouts he has replicated at home using his new knowledge and skills. Knowing that a student is transferring new skills to exercise more outside of school is the goal for us as PE teachers—I believe that because of this grant money and exposure to exercise equipment that potentially hundreds of students have been inspired and positively impacted to move more because of this grant.”
The students are experiencing increased fitness levels and are more active.
Students exhibit increased knowledge and vocabulary about PA equipment.
The students have become inspired to become more active.
Increased enthusiasm, excitement and participation from the students based on the new equipment.
Double bonus, as an example – when using “weighted” balls, there is increased student engagement and benefits.
The purchase of the new equipment opened the door for pride and ownership for the students. Prior to the award, the students were using outdated, old, tired equipment (sometimes up to 20 years old). The students (and teachers) both reap the benefits.
